Hats in a
Topsy, Turvy World
If
most of the women in your group are married, you can
have a "wedding day" where they can bring their
wedding albums. Perhaps there could be a "fashion
show" where the women (or younger women in their
families) can model the wedding dress they wore if
they still have them. Some of them may have
fascinating stories to tell of their wedding
day/outfit. Serve the type of refreshments you
would find at a wedding reception.
We
did this at our church and discovered that one woman
had been married in jeans, flannel shirt, parka, and
boots because her wedding day was the day following
the Alaska earthquake and her wedding dress
disappeared. Another was married in a red dress
because she was arrested for parking violations and
just made it to the church on time! Several wore
dresses that had belonged to their mothers or
grandmothers. It was great fun and everyone enjoyed
looking at the wedding pictures -- even the single
women.

Spa Day
Imagine what a group of women could enjoy in one
day by gathering together in a lovely home and
pooling their resources and money to, as a group,
purchase the services of those who do pedicures,
manicures, massages and facials!
You will need a gathering place comfortable for
creating private areas or rooms for massages,
facials and other services. Privacy is a must for
massages! Low lights and fragrant candles with
soft music playing in the background, do wonders for
creating an atmosphere of peace and relaxation.
Have another room where those waiting for their
'moment' can gather to talk, munch on snacks or
read.
Ladies love to be pampered, talk and reflect.
Creating a spa day (and I mean ALL day) Allows
for healing and restoration; mind, body, soul and
spirit.
Can't do it all? Then use your imagination and
do what you can.

Movie Anyone?
You don't have to go to a theater to enjoy a great
movie with friends! Find a movie that will be well
received with your group of friends and guests.
Inspiring, controversial, funny ... Pick your
movie to reflect the conversation and atmosphere
you have in mind for your evening.
We chose the movie "Chocolat" and enjoyed the
company of approx. 15 women. Each woman
brought chocolate to use after the movie to make
gourmet chocolates to give as gifts. Inspired
by the movie, we relocated to the kitchen where
delicious chocolate creations evolved - along with
fascinating insights and discussion regarding the
message of the movie.
Questions to ask:
-
Who did you relate to the most in the movie?
The least?
-
What do you think the message of the movie was?
-
Have you ever experienced emotions like those that
were stirred up in the movie? Where? When?
-
Tell us about a time that you were reminded about
while watching the movie.
