Freedom in the journeyThis question was asked of me recently, “If I plan my own future, isn’t that planning with my own will? If God is ordering my footsteps, shouldn’t I wait for HIM to tell me what to do?”

The beauty of such a question is the humble heart in which this question was asked. This person truly desires to walk in God’s will, yet sees a need to plan a future. When is the planning of God and when is it not?

Blockages are the result of self-limiting beliefs. Every time you begin to notice that you “aren’t getting anywhere” or notice that you are constantly getting the same results, it’s time to uncover your self-limiting beliefs.

Many of the thoughts and emotions that we entertain on a daily basis are actually habitual. The payoff for remaining in those negative mindsets are subtle. (we always have a payoff for what we do, or we wouldn’t do it.)

Payoffs for entertaining limiting beliefs are:

Shannon singing during praise and worship

Fast forward many years ….

I’m standing on the platform with the praise team. Singing is a joy to me, and unlike my cartooning talent, my musical talent is passable, but not nearly as gifted or refined.

As the pastor’s wife, I felt incredibly honored and blessed to be working with one of the most gifted musicians and musical mentors I’ve ever met. Joe Sanford is one of those rare individuals who listens deeply – not just at the notes you are singing, but at who you are as an individual. He teaches music in the school system too, which completely makes sense, because he has an uncanny ability to bring out the best in everyone and creates a harmony not only in music but with the individuals themselves.
